When is the last time you've been to a theme park?
..Middle Tennessee may be on the verge of landing a huge new theme park. The Columbia Daily Herald reports that a Florida theme park company will announce plans at 1 p.m. today to build a new attraction in Spring Hill that could employ thousands.
Spring Hill Mayor Michael Dinwiddie told the newspaper that the park plans to build a theme park near I-65 that could sit on as much as 1,000 acres and would include the attraction itself and hotels. By comparison, the entire Disney World Resort in Orlando features just over 7,000 developed acres, with Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center and Disney-MGM Studios sitting on a total of 561 acres.
It's unclear which theme park operator plans to buy the land in Spring Hill, but Dinwiddie did say that it will not be a religion-based attraction

The Old "Calgone Made Me Do It" Defense
Kentucky State Police say they found a 2-year-old boy with a head injury lying on the inside edge of I-24 in Marshall County and his mother carrying a 5-year-old child in the median.
Police say 29-year-old Cynthia Palmer told officers she had been snorting bath salts and began to hallucinate while driving from the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell on Monday night. Police say she stopped and attempted to carry both children across the roadway, but dropped the younger child and left him.
The 2-year-old was taken to a hospital. The older child was taken into custody by Tennessee Social Services.
Palmer is charged with assault, wanton endangerment and public intoxication. Court records do not list an attorney for her.
Some synthetic drugs available on the Internet and in drug paraphernalia stores are marketed as "bath salts." The drugs contain a stimulant that is not controlled by the Drug Enforcement Administration but is also not approved for human consumption. Officials say the drugs mimic the effects of cocaine, ecstasy and LSD.
Kentucky lawmakers are considering legislation that would ban the sale or possession of "bath salts." The measure has passed the House and is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee
Bake one and I'll Sue your Cupcakes Off
The lawyer for the shop said that a former worker wants to open up a similar cupcake store in Memphis. The lawyer said that the Memphis store would sell cupcakes paired with wines.
The former employee apparently signed a no-compete contract, and now Gigi's is considering legal action.
And Reba Makes Three!
Kix Brooks made the announcement in a private press conference at 9:30 a.m.
"We are inducting royalty this year," said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer in a news release. "Jean and Reba are two of Country Music's most revered queens, and Bobby Braddock is a king of songwriting. All three of them refused to follow the crowd; instead, creating their own unique paths. I cannot imagine what Country Music would be like today without these three talented individuals and all of their accomplishments. They each continue to inspire me with their latest performances, albums, compositions, and productions."
There are now a total of 115 members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
"This is a huge honor for me and something I've dreamed about since I was a little girl," said McEntire in a news release. "When I was a young girl, we would take vacations to Nashville and tour the Country Music Hall of Fame. And now, for me to be inducted, is a dream come true."
Induction ceremonies will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum later this year.
