Elite Williamson County Tennessee School Major E.Coli polluter

LEIPER'S FORK, Tenn. -- The sewage system at Hillsboro School, in Williamson County, is so bad, it's leaking E. coli and ammonia into the environment.

The school in Leiper's Fork has racked up 67 violations, but has never been fined or penalized, according to a report in The Tennessean.

Now that plans have been approved to add six new classrooms, the need to fix the 30-year-old sewage system has become more urgent.

The state department of Environment and Conservation said the new additions should not happen without repairs to the treatment system.

This month county commissioners approved $700,000 for the work and school leaders say it should be installed by the fall.
