Driving On Wrong Side Of Interstate Is Fatal Mistake

Nashville, TN - An 18-year-old Nashville man traveling the wrong way on I-65 died at the scene of a head-on collision between his 1994 Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Tahoe on Saturday, July 3rd.




Nashville Metro Police reported that Andrew M. Daquila of Maymanor Circle was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of I-65 near Armory Drive at 1:40 a.m. when he collided with the SUV driven by William Calhoun, 20, of Louisville, Kentucky. Calhoun told investigators that he suddenly saw headlights coming toward him and tried to swerve to avoid the Honda, but was unsuccessful. Neither Calhoun nor his five passengers were seriously hurt.



Police dispatchers began receiving phone calls about the Honda traveling in the wrong direction when it was about two miles from the crash scene.



It is not known why Daquila was traveling on the wrong side of the interstate. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug use at the scene. Toxicology testing of Daquila’s blood will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
