Historically Black College To Lose Accreditation

JACKSON, Tenn. -- The president of Lane College says an announcement is imminent that the Jackson school will lose its accreditation.

Dr. Wesley McClure's statement came during the annual Founders Day commemoration on Sunday, reports The Jackson Sun.

About 2,200 students are enrolled at Lane. McClure urged students and faculty to keep the faith.

Lane is one of only 100 historically black colleges left in the United States. Tennessee State University in Nashville is under suspension and may lose it's accreditation as well.
