72 Year Old Struck By Bus

A person was hit by a Metro Transit Authority bus late Friday morning at Fourth Avenue and Charlotte Avenue, said Metro police.
Police said 72-year-old Nancy Farmer was in a crosswalk when she was struck. She was taken in critical condition to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with severe head trauma. The bus was turning right onto Charlotte from Fourth, police said. There were three eyewitnesses. The driver of the bus, 56-year-old Bruce Hogan, was taken to Baptist Hospital with minor injuries. An MTA spokeswoman said there is currently an internal investigation, which is procedure whenever one of their vehicles gets into an accident. Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the contributing factor of the crash was that Hogan failed to yield to Farmer in the crosswalk.
