Dam Near Nashville Severely Damaged

Authorities are concerned about a crack on the highway that crosses the Wolf Creek Dam in Kentucky. The dam is up river from Nashville on the Cumberland River. The United States Army Corps of Engineers reportedly stopped work on the dam in March following the detection of movement near where the concrete dam attaches to the earthen embankment. The crack along the highway that runs across the top of the dam has been widening, and work on the dam will not resume until the tests have been completed. A failure of the dam could flood many cities in Tennessee, including Nashville.
