A Nashville man was arrested Wednesday morning after stealing a plane Sunday afternoon from John C. Tune Airport.
Russell Brothers, a former Belle Meade businessman, was arrested after police said he took a 1975 Beechcraft P-58 Barron aircraft.
Brothers said he would not return the plane unless the owner of the aircraft, Kenneth Baldwin Jr., paid him $12,000.
Officers arrested Brothers, who admitted he flew the plane to an airport in Dickson. He is charged with theft of property worth more than $60,000.
Brothers was convicted in the early 1990s of money laundering and drug smuggling and released from prison in 1999. He is the cousin of Nashville judge Thomas Brothers
