Meriwether Lewis Burial SIte Revitalized

The National Park Service has begun rehabilitating the Meriwether Lewis death and burial site on the Natchez Trace Parkway near Hohenwald, Tenn.
The work includes a new parking lot, a new education trail and exhibits, rehabilitation of a historic cabin, new restrooms and updated utilities. The project is expected to be done by next spring.Lewis, with William Clark, explored the territory from St. Louis westward to the Pacific Ocean beginning in 1803.He died mysteriously in 1809, either by suicide or shot by political enemies. Lewis County in Tennessee is named in his honor.
