Customers Pinched BY TVA Rate Hike

The Tennessee Valley Authority will be raising rates by 3%. The rates will be passed on to local utility providers. Those who regularly see a $125 electric bill will see that bill increase to $128. 75. For those with larger homes, you may soon see a $250 electric bill go up to $257. 50. The rate increase will strike on July 1st. The rate is being blamed on an increase of power consumption by consumers.
The rate hike comes one day after the state announced a fine against TVA totaling $11.5 million dollars. The fine is for the 2008 coal ash spill in East Tennessee.
