North murfreesboro Drainage Study Public Meeting

A public meeting to gather information about the City ofMurfreesboro’s upcoming North Murfreesboro Drainage Study will be held in Erma Siegel Elementary School, 135 W. Thompson Lane, June 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.


The city has scheduled this neighborhood meeting to provide information about goals for the study and to gather information from the public regarding the areas involved.

This neighborhood meeting will be an open house format and no formal presentations will be made.

Huddleston-Steele Engineering (HSE) will conduct the North Murfreesboro Drainage Study with funding from the city’s storm water user fees with authorization from the Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Board and Murfreesboro City Council. HSE has completed Phase 1 of the study which identifies the local drainage basins in the study area.

Under study will be areas including those generally located along and beside Memorial Boulevard between Haynes Drive and DeJarnette and Thompson lanes including Compton Road. A map showing these basins can be viewed by following this link. A topograhical version is also available here.

Because of the relationship to the drainage area under study, information will also be solicited for the areas of Hoopers Bottom and Regency Park (Haynes Drive to Thompson Lane area west of Memorial Boulevard) and Dry Branch (DeJarnette Lane to Compton Road east of Memorial).

Representatives from HSE and city staff will be available to discuss the study area and gather information from the public regarding the study area. Anyone interested can arrive any time between 5 and 7 p.m. to review information and discuss issues with the study team.

Written comments, photographs, and other information will be accepted at the meeting.
